The Thomas Heath sundial’s functional beauty is a striking reproduction and faithful to the original, 1750’s design. Made of solid brass, this quality piece weighs a hefty 7 ounces. Dimensions are 2-3/4” x 3-5/7. Directions included.
The shop of Thomas Heath was of several large shops dealing in horological instruments in 18th Century London, England. Many of the instruments were made by “chamber masters” Independent master craftsmen working in their own homes. This beautiful sundial was most likely fashioned by an unnamed master, with a talent of combining function with artistic design.
